 David Cook comes out on stage in his Kansas City Chiefs jersey to open his set. This footage is of him singing "Hello." It's obvious by his performance of this song (and all the others) that he gave KC his all. I'm sure performing in front of his friends and family brought a lot of emotion to the performance that might not be there otherwise.
